Prince / Princess of my Home – Trisha (Kungumam - Tamil magazine interview)

Trisha has been the 108 (Emergency service) for the stray animals that doesn’t have a home. She has to be honoured an award in the name of ‘Mother Teresa’ for the services she does to these animals - the moment she hears about some injured / abandoned ones. If we come across some animals / birds that is injured on the roads, many of us just cross them and pass by. But, Trisha takes them to Blue Cross for treatment. Trisha says, They have every right to live freely in this world as we do

Trisha adds, We scold someone as ‘Dog’ if we are in anger. It’s what most of us had understood about Dogs, which is completely wrong. Actually, there is no other living being in this world that is more lovable as dogs. If we give them 10% love, they give us back their 100% love. They don’t disturb any people. Only people who hit them with stones, tie crackers to their tails, and harass them are like worse than wild animals.

A lot of rich people, just to show their status bring up dogs. All they have are breeder dogs. It is difficult to bring up those foreign breeds in our city’s climate. We should not own a dog just to show others that we also have pet animals at home. We should look after them with our true love & affection. We must come forward to adopt the stray Indian dogs that are abandoned on the streets. Like humans, dogs too, if become old, will have eye problems, knee problems etc., Those people who owns pets just as a fashion statement, abandons them on to the streets during their tough times. Six months back, someone had abandoned a female street dog inside a box in front of my house. She looked much scared & hungry, was full of ticks & dirty. I took her inside, gave her a bath & took her to the veterinary doctor and gave treatment. I named her ‘Pattu’ fostered her in my home for some days, and then gave her for adoption. Now Pattu is living happily in Love Care Centre in Cuddalore.

At present there are two pet dogs in my Home. One is 'Zoya', a Beagle breed. Another one, I rescued from Hyderabad during my shoot on a rainy day. He was injured badly by a car and was screaming in pain. I took him to the doctor. He was saved at the right time, even a smallest delay could have ended his life. I took him to actor Nagarjuna-Amala’s home and kept there for some days. I visited him often. I couldn’t leave him  there, so took him home and he has grown beautifully now. His name is ‘Cadbury’. These two are the Prince & Princess of my home.

I have been goodwill ambassador for PeTA, an animal welfare organisation. I take part in the adoption drives conducted by animal welfare groups, encourage adoption of these stray animals through my twitter page, asking public to come forward to adopt.

In foreign countries, dogs are given special training to keep the patients those who are in critical conditions, happy. They are trained to get along with the patients. Even smaller needs of these patients are taken care by these dogs. These people are allowed to live their last moments happily.

When I return home after my tough shooting schedules, my pets come and welcome me. They hug me and show their love to me. Whatever tiredness I have at that time, will go away.

All that Dogs expect from us are our love & affection. Why shouldn’t we give that to them” asks Trisha. Let her question go not only to good minded people, but to all.
