From Indira Gandhi to Kamaraj

Delhi to Chennai - A journey that i took March 1 2013 - My journey back home from Delhi to Chennai after finishing my annual sales conference that was held at Vanaashraya resort in Alwar, Rajasthan.

It could have been a normal, cool journey but for the reason being me attending jfw awards night at Chennai in which Trisha being awarded Excellence in Entertainment award for her completion of Decade in Cinema as leading lady. I need to go through lot of challenges starting from being there at the airport in time to catch my 2.45 flight, reach home in time and then push off to the event venue. Seems cool, but the challenge stared as my whole team was supposed to leave Rajasthan only by 9 am on 1st. The journey roughly takes 5 to 6 hrs given the bad road conditions. I certainly know I cannot make it to the flight if I start with them. So, I pressured my colleagues that I need to be in Chennai by 6 pm on Friday. The reason I gave was I need to attend a family function. Yes, I always considered Trisha a part of my family. After my continuous pressure, they agreed to send me back to Delhi by Thursday night along with one of my editor. We left that place and reached Delhi by mid night 2 o clock. All went cool till my flight was rescheduled to 3 pm, late by 15 mins. All my calculations needed to be re done as I had very tight schedule to reach the venue. I reached airport quite early at 12.30 noon for a 3 pm flight, done my check in and other formalities n was just wandering with full of tension inside me. To add to the tension, flight only took off by 3.15 pm and was scheduled to reach Chennai by 5.45 pm. While I have been calculating my timings, the pilot announced a mid air delay due to weather conditions n said if all goes well we will land by 6 pm. All that I was doing was praying praying praying. Knowing that I cannot do anything other than just stay calm, i have been raising the shutter of the window to see how far we have reached, as if I was travelling by road or rail. All I can look are the clouds outside and land below. I am sure my tense face and activities would have made my co passengers tense too. Finally the flight landed at 5.50 pm in Chennai thankfully and the doors were opened at 6 pm. That was what I was waiting for and just pushed myself out not even thinking it is a flight and not a bus. Got out of the airport in 5 mins, picked up a fight with a taxi driver who kept on asking me to take a taxi. I certainly know I cannot be in time if I go by a taxi knowing the Chennai traffic and the time of the day I am travelling. Quickly ran through to the opposite railway station Trisulam to catch an electric train that can take me nearest to my home in about 30 mins. Missed a train by few seconds and have to wait for the next for about 10 more mins. Finally got home by around 6.45 pm. Through the journey called my mom and asked her to be ready too. Reached home , changed over and left for the venue by 7pm. Sailed through the traffic and reached the venue by 7.15 pm, thankfully got a good seat which I was worrying about. The show started finally at 8 pm, went through some stunning and entertaining performances, nice awards and finally the moment came at about 10 pm when Trisha stepped on to the stage to receive her award for the night. All the pain, tension i had, flying, running, walking I did was not there when I saw her receiving that award. I was cheering her from the crowd like I had all the energy of the world, like a child, indeed a happy fan... That is what I was waiting for a long time in these 2 years. My first sight of Trisha receiving an award, the first of many I wish to see. Here is pic of The moment....
